Angry Birds Project

This project is inspired by the popular video game Angry Birds. Students first build a launching mechanism, such as a catapult, for three different types of tennis balls (or “birds,” named Feather, Heavy and Spiky.) Then students test their launchers and collect data to generate the quadratic equation of the parabolas traced by the three different “birds.” They then use those equations to calculate where to place their launchers in order to effectively target and destroy water balloons (green pigs) set at different height levels on a pre-built structure.
